Privacy policy
CanRates is built to work without knowing who you are. This page explains the little information involved.
What we do not collect
There are no accounts, sign-up forms or advertising trackers on CanRates. We never ask for your name, email, phone number, SIN or credit score.
Analytics (only if you accept)
If you click Accept in the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people use, so we can improve the site. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives your IP address, browser and device details, and the pages you visit. Google processes this data and may store it outside Canada. We do not use it for advertising or to identify you.
If you click Decline, Google Analytics is not loaded at all. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.
What stays on your device
Your language choice, your cookie choice and your answers to the "Check your eligibility" quiz are saved in your browser (local storage) so the site remembers them. They are never sent to our server. You can clear them with the "Start over" button or by clearing your browser data.
Server logs
Like every website, our hosting provider keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser type, page requested and time) to keep the site secure and working. We do not use them to identify or profile visitors.
Money transfer prices
When you use the Send Money page, our server asks Wise's public comparison service for prices. Only the currencies and amount are sent — nothing about you.
Links to banks and other sites
When you click "Apply" or any outside link, you leave CanRates. That site's own privacy policy applies.
