About CanRates
CanRates helps people in Canada compare credit cards, mortgages, savings accounts, GICs and money transfers, in English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. We built it with newcomers in mind.
Keith Chan
Keith immigrated to Canada and went through the same first steps many readers face: opening a bank account, getting a first credit card with no Canadian credit history and learning how TFSAs, RRSPs and mortgages work here.
He is bilingual in English and Chinese, and started CanRates so that Chinese-speaking newcomers could read clear, checked comparisons in their own language.
What Keith does
Keith reviews every newcomer and student guide on CanRates against official sources such as IRCC, the Canada Revenue Agency, the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada and the banks' own pages. Each guide shows the date it was reviewed and links to those sources.
What Keith is not
Keith is not a licensed financial advisor, mortgage broker, immigration consultant, lawyer or accountant. CanRates gives general information to help you compare; it is not personal advice. For decisions about your own situation, please talk to a licensed professional.
How we stay independent
Our rankings come from the product facts we check, not from payments. Read how we compare products and how CanRates makes money on the pages linked below.
